  • KICL is focused on improving agricultural productivity to suit India's diverse agronomic and environmental conditions.

We collaborate with hundreds of distributors and channel partners, well into the heart-lands, across the length and breadth of southern India. Continuous investments are made in infrastructure and delivery mechanisms to ensure that farmers have access to top-quality products.

The factory at Ennore near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, manufactures SuperPhosphate and is set up on a plush 44-acre campus with state-of-the-art facilities. It was declared open on 12.05.1962 by the then Prime Minister of India Shri Morarji Desai, in the presence of the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Shri K.Kamaraj and the Central Industries Minister Shri R.Venkatraman.

The initial production capacity of was 50 TPD. With subsequent upgradations, by the late 70's the production capacity shot up to 70 TPD. Later the plant was converted to Double Conversion and Double Absorption (DCDA) process from an earlier Contact process. By mid-eighties, the production touched 100 TPD. In 2002 the ageing plant and machinery was decommissioned and a new Superphosphate Plant of Monticatani - Italian design was installed with a single stage void scrubbing system and with a capacity of 100 TPD.

Adhering to new compliance requirements, a Venturi Cyclone MSRL scrubbing system was introduced in 1986. In the same year, the main SSP process was converted from Monticatani design to Broadfield design. A 3-stage Venturi Cyclone Scrubbing system introduced in 1989 ensures that the plant remains environment-friendly. The plant also has a weigh bridge with an installed capacity of 60 tonnes.

The Ennore plant from KICL has also implemented several community development initiatives right from the word go and continues to positively impact the neighbouring communities. The Ennore plant has received accolades from Fertilizer Association of India both for its high production in an SSP plant in India, and for its adherence to very high standards of pollution control, and environment-friendly practices.

The plant aims to leap forward, from its current annual production of 66,000 MT to a capacity of 1,32,000 MT.
